Biography

The CEO and Executive Director of The Environmental Affairs Council is Steven E. Hamilton, he has over 15 years of experience working in the Environmental and the Social Justice arena prior to starting EAC. Prior to the formation of EAC, Steven E. Hamilton served as the Legislative Director for the Congress of Racial Equality of California(CORE), where as one of leading Civil Rights organization in California, he begin to engage in a variety of environmentally related issues.

After recognizing that Civil Rights and Environmental Justice issues attempt to address the same need to have representation in low-income and minority communities EAC was formed as a spin-off organization of CORE of California.

Steven E. Hamilton has worked for such environmentally related organizations such as the South Coast Air Quality Management District (Office of Technology Advancement), the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies, the Clean Power Campaign and Green Mountain Energy Company. He served for four years in the administration of Governor George Deukmejian, two years in the Department of Social Services, and in the office of Community Relations and Public Affairs.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California, Irvine and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management, Azusa Pacific University. He is a part-time faculty member at National University, School of Business and Technology, Department of Public Administration.
